Stanley Puckett retired on 31 December 2018, but formerly served as an International (Regional) Pol-Mil Analyst,
primarily with Pakistan and Afghanistan, in (Chief of) South Asia for
US Central Command since the beginning of October 2007.
From October 2004 until 2007, he was a force structure analyst
in the Programs and Force Structure Development Division
(in a branch that closed and later reopened) with Headquarters,
Pacific Air Forces at Hickam AFB in Hawaii. Prior to this
assignment, he served with distinction as a civilian with the United States
Central Command Air Forces as an engagement officer for the
Central Asian region (former Soviet Union countries) and earlier
as a Program Analyst (Chief of) in Combat Planning.
Dr. Puckett had served in the Air Force Reserve briefly with
Eighth Air Force headquarters at Barksdale Air Force Base, near
Shreveport, Louisiana after leaving active duty. He had been attached
for training (historian) with the United States Central Command
headquarters at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida at the time
of his retirement eligibility in 1996 from the reserve program. In
addition to three active duty "voluntary call ups" in his last three
years of service in the reserves, he had also performed double duty
as an Air Force Academy Admissions Liaison Officer from 1989 to 1996
while helping students in both Louisiana and Florida with college
scholarship opportunities.
With three overseas active duty assignments in nine years, and
concurrent with his civilian education, Stanley Puckett completed
Air Command and Staff College in 1985. He later completed Marine Corps
Command and Staff College in 1986. Prior to separating from
extended active-duty as a reserve officer, Stan had more than
1500 flying hours in the RF-4C Phantom jet (plus about 500 light
aircraft hours too). Stan's last active duty assignment was
Mission Director for the 7th Air Force Command Advisory Function
and Standardization / Evaluation Officer of the joint U.S./Korean
Crisis Management Facility.
Stanley Puckett, also Dr. or "Doc" Puckett, was a Free Enterprise Fellow
at Grambling State University in Louisiana. Prior to accepting a
civil service opportunity in 2001, Dr. Puckett taught as an adjunct professor
in business with the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg.
He still maintains adjunct professorships with Tampa College in
Clearwater, The Union Institute Graduate School in Cincinnati, Ohio,
and a consulting professorship with Kennedy-Western University.
While in active service with the Air Force, Stanley Puckett taught
business and management courses with the Asian Division of
The University of Maryland. (Also helped several special interests
prepare for both the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Olympics
preparations taking place in and around Seoul.)
Following active-duty in 1987, he taught one year in a visiting
professorship with Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, before
joining Grambling State University in Louisiana. He worked briefly
as a Realtor for Century 21 while completing his military reserve
commitment. This included three separate annual 100+ day "call ups"
for active duty in the last three years of reserve duty. Once
completed and eligible for reserve retirement, Stan entered a
Professional Development Program as a mainframe computer programmer
and consultant in early 1997. From 1997 to 2001, Dr. Puckett was an
IT consultant with industry with the last assignment as a
VisualAge for Java instructor for IBM.
Stanley is married to his (1991 US citizen) wife "Sumi" and they have
two children, Thomas Puckett (graduated high school in 2006) and
Jacqueline Puckett (Second runner-up to Miss Teen Hawaii and holds title of
Miss Jr. Teen Honolulu and Miss Teen Pearl City in 2007), on Oahu in Hawaii
which changed to the Tampa Metro Florida area in December 2007.
He is the son of Dr. Russell and Dorothy (Hoskins) Puckett, of St. Petersburg,
Florida, originally from Sinai, Kentucky.

Like
many before, I was part of those who served in the United State Air Force
during its first 50 years. These years included the Cold War years that
ended under President Bush in the early nineties following the Gulf War
and the liberation of Kuwait. The service celebrated its 50th Anniversary
in 1997 following its activation as a new service branch in 1947. This
picture is included for all the veterans who may wish for, but not have
a copy.
